Grandview Heights Schools is hiring for Recreation Leaders to help in our before and after school program run out of Stevenson Elementary and Larson Middle School. There are multiple positions available from 2:00pm - 6:00pm Monday-Friday.

Position:  Recreation Leader

Supervisor: Child Care Director

Hours:  2:00-6:00pm

Location: As assigned by the Child Care Director

High School students are encouraged to apply! (During school year, hours would be 3:30pm - 5:30pm)

General Duties:

Classroom Management

o Assist team leader in planning program activities

o Attending staff meetings, work days, parent orientation meetings, training retreats

and special activities

o Maintain professional oral and written communication with parents/guardians  

o Provide supervision for students in assigned group

o Assist team leader in maintaining the necessary records as outlined in the employee

handbook

o Manage student behavior through a consistent and fair discipline policy

o Assist students with special needs

Communication

o Maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, program director and

other school personnel

o Maintain parent information board and monitors students’ mailbox folders

o Maintain confidentiality in regards to student/family information

o Communicate with director in a professional manner, insubordination is grounds

for counseling and/or other forms of discipline

Program Operations

o Abide by all guidelines and policies set forth by the Board of Education

o Abide by all guidelines and policies of the program as outlined in the Grandview

Kids’ Club Employee Handbook

o Set up and clean assigned classroom 

o Maintain organization of classroom supplies and storage areas

o Perform assigned duties and accept direction from Child Care Director

o Order supplies, equipment and monitor group expenditures

Professional Skills

o Attend workshops and other training courses to meet the Ohio Department of Education’s training requirements 

o Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas in childcare practices and

philosophy

Physical Demands

o Follows state, federal and program guidelines including immunizations,

employment physical and required health and safety training

o Demonstrates a full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, walk, swim, or otherwise fully participate in all activities

o Supervises and interacts with children outdoors for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions

o Responds immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies

o Must be able to walk to the pool, library and other locations in Grandview Heights with students

o Maintains mental and physical alertness and appropriate level of energy
